(From Dusk to Dawn)

Welcome to the period drama – Prodosh Theke Protyush Porjonto (From Dusk Until Dawn)

Let us take you to the 12th century in Malla kingdom as Prodosh theke Protyush Porjonto  weaves a tale of royal destiny as a result of choices made and paths taken by the protagonists.

Scene 1: Opens in one fateful afternoon in Malla kingdom where the palace staff is decorating the entire palace and courtyard like a wedding venue. On the other hand, king Okkak and queen Shilabati have been spending sleepless nights in anticipation of this evening. The senators force the king to make choices in order to take the lineage of the family forward. In a sombre ritual, Shilabati is given permission to seek an able man with whom she is to spend a night in order to conceive an heir to the throne.

Scene 2:  Reveals the identity of this chosen man and it turns out that he is none other than Shilabati’s amorous interest before she was married to the king. Though unwilling at first in taking part in this charade, Protosh finally gives in to Shilabati’s implorations. On the other hand, Okkak spends a restless night reliving the humiliation due to his own physical and psychological shortcomings that has culminated into this very fateful day.

Scene 3: Depicts the morning after when Shilabati returns to the palace and faces Okkak and his senate. While everyone has been waiting for the news of a fruitful night leading to announcement of an heir, Shilabati reveals that she intends to take advantage of the remaining two nights and enjoy the physical pleasures which she has so been stranger to while married to the king. The play ends on a sombre note where king Okkak feels deceived and rejected while queen Shilabati remains strong in her protest towards the system and her own fate.

Sit back and enjoy the show!
